Background of KIjata Us
The founder of KIJATA US, CHAN MIN CHOO has been working as a teacher in a local school for nearly 37 years. Educating the young, particularly those aged 7 to 15 years is not a job but a passion.
She founded KIJATA US in July 2021 with the primary goal of assisting students and their families as well as the cleaners and security guards of SK WELLESLEY who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of job losses and wage cuts due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She started by soliciting funds from relatives, friends, and former students. Due to the overwhelming response, she started the LUNCH AID TANJUNG TOKONG for the above-mentioned recipients and the residents of Tanjung Tokong. The distribution of lunch packets began on 7th July 2021. Then, on 9th July 2021, PPB GROUP BERHAD came on board to support a significant portion of the expense.
The second project is the INTERNET AID for students, a collaboration with PCC (Penang Christian Centre). KIJATA US is also working with the ROTARY CLUB of GEORGETOWN in their BLESSING RACK project (a food bank for 45 households).

KIJATA US is a non-profit organization founded by Chan Min Choo with the goal of assisting individuals, families and communities. KIJATA US is a company that organizes events to raise funds for its charitable projects ranging from handing out food to sustainable learning. KIJATA US is dedicated to assisting the depressed, desperate, and desolate. KIJATA US was established on 7th July 2021 to assist people by soliciting donations and sponsors to fund their first project, the LUNCH AID TANJUNG TOKONG. Our working model is to empower individuals, families and communities through lifelong learning, to insulate the micro economy of communities and to collaborate with other organizations on projects that are complementary to ours.
